VIJAYAKANTH - Barathan:
Superb BGM by Raja and especially the theme music.
SPB as VKs brother is perfect.
Vk's performance is at its best especially the scenes where he is on search for SPB and the highlight is the court scene when he explains about his brother's love towards him(a must watch).
Songs were just superb! Pottathellam Vetrikallu & Punnahaiyil Minsaram are chartbusters but not sure about Alahe Amudhe?(but very nice song).
Movie moves at a decent speed then picks up during the search and slows down in climax. They should have changed the climax to something different then it would have been extraordinary.
Special Mention: Dialogues - I just love the dialogues in the movie. There is something special and powerful. When I watched this movie first time I was a kid and I just loved the way VK perform those dialogues.
Dialogue 1: VK to Police in the station when he is tied up and gets beaten, "Adi, nalla adi, adichu ippave konnudu illai appram nee romba varutha paduva"! This dialogue was copied/inspired in Dhill by Vikram just before the intermission to the police & in Maryaan by Dhanush. This shows the power/mass of this dialogue.
Dialogue 2: VK to Anandaraj at a party - "Unnai adikira adile nee yenda porandhenu ninaikanum".
Dialogue 3: VK to Anandaraj over the phone just before he gets arrested for his brother's murder, "Enn annanuku ethavadhu aachu, unnai uyiroda erichiduven".
Dialogue 4: VK to Napoleon, "Avane naan nichayama kolluven, innaike kolluven".
A superb show by SD Sabha. A super hit movie which ran for 100 days!
Barathan is a fine example of a good commercial entertainer with a good story line!
